HOW WOULD YOU USE THIS GRANT TO HELP YOUR COMMUNITY?

Our community would benefit from this grant because our students are hungry both literally and figuratively. As a Title 1 school, our students are often hungry in the literal sense. Our students are also hungry for learning. Our district boasts a large percentage of students challenging themselves through Advanced Placement and Project Lead The Way when compared to other Title 1 districts. Personal food computers allow growers to produce food in an enclosed space with a computer monitored and controlled climate. We plan to create a system of personal food computers. Our Computer Science and Engineering students suggest that this would be a way to communicate with the world while allowing biology students to experience exactly how climate zones affect the growth of various plants. These small crops will provide our culinary students with fresh, healthy ingredients as they learn how to cook for a family on a budget. Some students can even experience herbs from their heritage culture.
